Hi WidSeteers,

I just want to highlight that it's important to install WidSets or any Java apps on phone's memory on S60 devices. This way the application upgrades will go smoothly and the new version is ready to be used.

Push email widget may freeze some phone models

Hello,

We have noticed that using the Push Email widget https://www.widsets.com/widget/196796548/ may freeze some phone models. This error has occured with Nokia models: 3120 Classic, 5300 Xpress Music, 6233, 6270, 6288 and 7373.

Before we are able to fix this, there's a workaround available: Disable the alert setting from the email widget and the phone won't freeze.

I will inform you all when this is fixed.

I've only recently come across this application and it seems really fascinating on the face of it. However, really struggled to get it to work more than once after downloading onto my KU 990. Looks really good the first time you start it then, if I've closed the application or turned the phone off, then restarted I'm stuck weith the opening screen (blue background with stars?) and get no further. Did notice that, after it had worked, file occupied about 640k of memory but as soon as it had stopped working the file size had dropped to about 240k. Would really lilke to be able to continue using this application but several attempts have resulted in the same problem. Any advice ?

along the new version of WidSets, the client size has grown a little bit. To get back to version 2.0 please open this link to your mobile browser and download the client for your username (use the login in the end of the page) and you should be able to keep on using WidSets again :)

I guess this has to do with Nokia Signing, and your T-Mobile phone not having Nokia Content Signing certificate in it.

By default we offer Nokia Signed client to Nokia phones because it removes some security prompts.

Workaround is that you download WidSets client using your desktop browser and then send it to your phone using Nokia PC Suite, or Bluetooth. By downloading using PC you won't get the Nokia Signed version as your browser is not Nokia ;)

I deleted these, restarted my phone and the dead Widsets icon HAS GONE!!!!!!!!!!

do you that you see (loading...) in the end of text. This means that you need to be in online to fetch more content. Once WidSets updates any new content, it fetches 500 characters at the time.

Hopefully in the future, we can change this feature to so, tht users can define how much content is fetched.

Hi garryweil,

I believe you're talking about the WidSets client, right. It is not any beta version anymore as you have get it from this site.

In the announcement of the new version (2.0) I wrote a notice:

"In some cases, after the update, you might find out that the WidSets icon is not opening on the menu grid. In this case, remove the WidSets from your mobile and download your new personalized WidSets client with your mobile browser from get.widsets.com. "

Does this help you?

More tips are available here as well, but I think in your case this should do it.

Usability tips for WidSets and S60 phones

Hi,

here's some tips for S60 phone's users that could ease up your Widsets usage.

Set a default Internet Access Point for WidSets
(at least in S60 3.1 devices)
If you use always the one and only access point to connect WidSets e.g. Internet/GPRS, you can set it as a default access point:

Open Menu - Tools - Application Manager - Choose WidSets - Options - Open - Access point. Choose the access point that you wish to use from the list. Exit the settings.

Everytime you open WidSets, or go from offline to online, you don't need to choose the access point anymore.

I would also advice to install WidSets to phone's memory as it makes WidSets faster to use.

Download from WidSets

Currently we are not offering a possibility to downloand something through widgets.

But, we have a workaround which may help you. It's possible to bookmark some interesting content that you find though WidSets (open any interesting news etc. - press Options - Bookmark). You can check your bookmarks through www.widsets.com. After logging in you can see My Profile page which has all your WidSets bookmarks.

It's possible to see these bookmarks in your mobile phone, too.
At least in Nokia N-Series phones' has a browser, which has "Wed feeds". Just create a new web feed for WidSets and copy-paste your personal WidSets bookmark feed from My Profile - Bookmards page at www.widsets.com.

This way you're able use the interesting pages that you found via WidSets and then download the themes via mobile browser.
