Hi moisesdavid.
Are you trying to develop the widget using just the tools available in the Studio section or are you doing some serious developing using the WidSets Developer Kit (http://www.widsets.com/downloads/WidSets_dev_kit.zip)? There's a pdf-document included in the devkit that explains actually quite a lot of things on the development side. There's also an example widget included there that might be helpful.
The author/creator information adapts to whomever is publishing the widget to the library. You can also change the author and creator information by editing the widget.xml file, but those might be overwritten at the time of publish.
At the moment those Studio made template widgets like Iconizable RSS Reader have a lot smaller area for the "icon" than those that have been developed from scratch. The problem in your case might be that the image inserted as the icon is scaled down to fit that particular area. This is normal behaviour using the Iconizable RSS Reader template.
However you can take most of the widgets that you like and edit the visual look of those using the Skin Editor available in the Studio. I say most, because some widgets not be available for editing if the publisher has not allowed this. I made a small tutorial about the usage of the Skin Editor in an earlier post, please see the link below.
