Tough migration for WidSets

Tana  2007/11/06 13:33 UTC

Hi WidSeteers,

the migration has been a tough place for all of us. The service has been up and down, though now the last 10 hours have been more stable, which is good news to all of us :)

Still we know that there will be moments during these days, that we need to take down the service to do some more fixes. Hopefully those won't take long time.

We appreciate all your patience with the migration, as we hope to offer you the best WidSets ever!
And our deepest apologies for the the trouble this is causing to you, dear WidSeteeers!

Taina

I upgraded and was shocked at how slow it was... but I suppose teething issues are to be expected ;-)

In general, other than the slow respose from the servers, the new app and web interface look great! Can't wait till the migration bugs are ironed out so I can have a good play around.

Thanks for the effort guys - keep your chins up through these temp issues - after all you are offering a fantastic service!

I upgraded also to the production version and frankly, I feel that it only became worse. The startup time on N73 is terribly slow, it is so slow now that it discourages the use. And after the startup, updating feels to take longer than before. Also, the new screen layout wastes a bit of precisous screen real estate for frames when I would like to use it for content.

It's a great app, but please keep it simple and fast, with snappy user experience. Where can I download the latest beta client and get back to using it? :-)

Hi mustis,

thanks for your honest feedback.

Can you find any help to the slowness from this post here:

Not sure what you mean by the other thing, but you do know that you can move the widgets as you like on the dashboard on this website, if you go to My Profile page? Just drag and drop. After the migration, the widgets are all in one long line, but you can edit it. The height of the dashboard is a little bit lower now, but not dramatically, I think.

Cheers and have a good weekend!

I have checked this link..that Taina gave
http://www.widsets.com/forum/topic/5/138179102/1/

It only applies if one has the application on memory card.

I have an E90, one of the faster Nokia mobiles (350Meg processor).
I do not use my memory card for Widsets.
I have 15 widgets. (inc; my profile and Library).

I will now do a test.

Widsets selected ..
...loading.. took 36 seconds before I see my Widgets..
.. and then the process of selecting/verification of my connection method takes another 10 seconds.

The Widgets then load ..I can select into use my first Widget after 1 minute and 5 seconds.

I would guess that someone with more Widgets and/or a slower mobile could get fed up with waiting and use Opera for web access.
I have to say that when I have tried to promote Widsets by showing it to friends they have often lost interest before I can access a site.
