New WidSets version available!

Hi everyone,

Today, 13 December, a new version (1.0.7) of WidSets were launched.

This is not a forced update - it is up to you if you want to update it or not.

This update includes tens of fixes and here's mentioned some of them:

- Support for Blackberry 8700 model
- Case-insensitive web login
- Many changes to widget library (views, pick amount, filters…)
- Library widget using less data than before
- Fixes to website (create a new widget, registrations, Exlore page, layout fixes, Fetch!, publishing widgets…)
- Improvement to Forum - hyperlinks and text formating work again
- Fixes for E90 Communicator menu options
- Left softkey corrected to Nokia E61i
- Fixes to some single widgets...

Ah good, a few much needed bug fixes. Nice to see that you listen to feedback from the community.

I've also noticed you've optimised the client for speed improvements e.g. got rid of background gradient fill on the dashboard. I'm always in favour of function over form. Anything you can do to streamline the client, even if it means putting a few cool new features on hold (until the handset market catches up) is wise I think. I'm guessing the majority of users want something that loads up quickly so that they can check out the latest headlines, play the odd game (I hope!) etc. then shut down quickly.

EDIT: I've just noticed that you now correctly map softkeys when switching from portrait to landscape orientation on phones like the N95 - nice (except the bar takes up quite a lot of screen space!).

Well done team I get a 20 seconds improvement in time from selecting Widsets application, to being able to use a Widget.
The interface for E90 is now much clearer

Yes the new interface is more attractive than the old one.

I however do have a question

I created a widget using my feedburner feed of Sabature which is my personal personal website unlike Dubai Lime which is my community CMS build.

How Long does it take for widsets to get my feeds renewed?

I am also going to put in a few recommendations. in the recommendations topic.

Hi

I tried it and I can't get Widsets to work now. Most of my widgets no longer work and those that do are verrrrrrrrrrry slooooooooooowwwwwwww. Can I go back to the old version? How would I do that?

Hi,

if you have updated the latest version (1.0.7) there's no going back again.

What widgets stopped running? Do you have it installed in phone's memory? I would recommend that. Or reduce the amount of widgets on the dashboard.

I have received couple of notes that after update ir got slower e.g. one using N95. What's your phone?

Updating WidSets from 1.0.6 to 1.0.7 doesn't work in my N81. I've tried it several times since the new version became available using both 3G and WLAN but no go, all I get is "authorisation failed".

I encountered exactly the same problem the previous time there was an update, and it got fixed after a week or two. Please fix it again..

Hi Hannu.

Please try to remove the old application and try reinstalling after that, either via the SMS download or the http://get.widsets.com site, there's a login box on the bottom of that page to get your personalized client. This should do it as far as I know.

I have installed the latest WidSets version in both my N95 8GB and my N82 and they work smoothly!
This version is much better that the previous one. Better interface and faster loading.
It's such a great application and I enjoy the fact that no matter which device I use, I have my content with me all the time.
Nevertheless, I would like to see my bookmarks on the mobile version, besides the website.

Hello,

I'm very disappointed with the speed after upgrading. It go a lot slower and had to select applications one by one to get them updated. I use Nokia E90.
