Re: Installation instructions
Hi Antti,
I had earlier Sony Ericsson K800 and WidSets worked perfectly in it (the older version though).
Now I have SE Z550 and I have problems with Widsets.
I have loaded the application according to your instructions above (browsed and logged in get.widsets.com and loaded the application there) but it still don't work for me.
My problem is that when the connection settings is socet, widsets can't connect at all and when I select HTTP, I get pop-up windows telling "muodostetaan yhteyttä, todennetaan, online, todennetaan, online, todennetaan, online ...).
I can see, that the widsets are downloaded partly. The progress bar in each widset is progressing a bit but then everything stops. I just get new pop up windows.
Other java applications seem to work in my phone.
Any idea what could be done?
Cheers,
mono_man
Re: Installation instructions
Hi guys,
jmcdonough, I see that you found out how to get the client installed. If you're already registered user, you can always find the "Reload" button from My Profile - Settings page on the website. Or you can also download the client with your mobile browser from get.widsets.com page and use the login there.
The problem you're facing now sounds a little bit strange. Somehow the keymapping may not work correctly? What is the phone model you're using? If it is something that is not used before, then the keytester test needs to be used.
mono_man, there's now something wrong with the connectivity. What is is the access point that is used for WidSets? It is the basic GPRS/Internet access point that is used for browsing www-pages, or is it a WAP access point? GPRS/Internet access point is the prefered one. What's the operator?
Some operators block the usage of socket connection, which seems to be in your case as socket is doing nothing.
You could also check out the latest log of WidSets, if the would give us any new information.
Options - Application - Settings - Developer mode: On
Options - Developer - Log
Copy the information from there to here, after trying to connect.
Cheers, Taina

I have loaded all the settings that are available for my mobile (SE Z550i) and there are only settings called WAP and MMS. I use the WAP for java applications. But as said, other java applications seem to be happy with it. [quote=Tana] You could also check out the latest log of WidSets, if the would give us any new information. |
I don't understand much, I hope these are useful for you ;-)

EDIT:
I spied the settings in a mobile where WidSets worked and noticed that Internet settings had different APN-name. I had "wap" and the working one had "internet".
Now WidSets is working on my phone :)
Thanx,

Re: Installation instructions
Great that it works now!
Yes, people should use the internet access point, that is the safetiest path. For some operators the wap access point works, but doesn't seem to do that in Finland.
Whenever someone is facing problems with connectivity, if they are trying both internet and wap access points, it is useful to try them with different connection mode. The mode can be switched between socket (default) and HTTP.
This setting can be found from Options - Application - Settings - Connection.
