This folder mentioned in the first post appears when installed to the memory card.

I need to see if there's some other ways...if non of the ealier tips are working.

Are you able to install WidSets though you already have this dead WidSets icon there? Or does it prevent you installing a version that works?

This advice about getting rid of the dead Widsets icon on my N95 doesn't work for me:

> If you already have a dead icon, check with the PC (USB cable and data transfer mode) the file system of your memory card. Go to folder: E:\Private\102033E6\MIDlets. This includes all the files of all Midlets installed into your mobile. You can delete all subfolders, or then just try to find the one that includes WidSets jar file. This should erase the non-working WidSets icon.

I have the dead icon too, as well as a working icon. I have checked the e:\Private\ folder as suggested, but nowhere is there any mention of Widsets. I tried to delete all subfolders but now a whole lot of my installed apps won't start, but I still have the dead icon. If you know how long it takes to reinstall everything on an 8Gb card you would understand my feelings about reformatting my card and my annoyance at Widsets for this :-(

Hi carigada,

formatting 8Gb card doen't sound as an option, I totally understand. In my case, it was the only option that worked.

I would advice you to install all Java apps on phone's memory. When you upgrade an app, like in Widsets's case, when we have a new version available, you are able to directly replace the old version with a new one, it may end up to a dead icon on the menu grid, if app is installed on a memory card.

Or if the Java apps are installed on the phone's memory, remove the old version first and after that download the new one to avoid the annoying situation.

Check out this tip from dms, a solution that doesn't need a memory card format:

OK This worked for me.

I examined the files in F:\Private\10003a3f\import\apps\NonNative\Resource with a hex editor. Two files had information about to Widsets. 101e0939_loc.rsc and 101987db_loc.rsc. I uninstalled Widsets which left just the 101e0939_loc.rsc (and corresponding 101e0939_reg.rsc).

I deleted these, restarted my phone and the dead Widsets icon HAS GONE!!!!!!!!!!
