qr-code please
qr-code please
Hi,
When I registered, it gave me the option of entering a url into my phone's web browser to download the s/w. I can't find the page any more, but in the FAQ it says :
"The techies method:
* Download WidSets by entering ‘get.widsets.com’ in your mobile phone’s web browser, and then download the WidSets client directly onto your mobile phone.
"
In any case, please could you add a qr-code so we can avoid having to enter a URL into the phone? I've found them very useful on other sites for quickly getting applications installed (and that's in your interest too, right?).
Thanks.
Max.
Re: qr-code please
Hmm, what is a qr-code?)
How hard it is to input the url into a browser? I do it atleast 10 times a day and don't find it that difficult ;)
You can also take the bottom-most link on get.widsets.com page and by inserting your user/pass you can download your own dash again.
/render
Afterwards:

Seems to be a 2D-barcode. What phonemodel actually reads these successfully, I have tried to do it few times with no success.

I've tried several S60 phones and they've all worked without any problem, so I would assume that any S60 phone would work - there's quite a few of those. I can't speak for other models, but they're used extensively in Asia (particularly Japan, so I'm told), so I expect a few other models work with them too.
Nokia are also talking about using them on some of their web pages for exactly this reason :

feedback on the idea is positive.
Anyway, it's up to you....
Re: qr-code please
*edit, i tried to upload the qr code you requested but it seems the feature is not supported here. O well at least you have the link to the image now ;)
Re: qr-code please - soon on Nokia's beta labs site

Yeah, when I referenced the URL, it didn't display in my desktop browser and downloaded to my computer instead - not ideal ;)
Perhaps it'd be best to convert it to some other image format, like gif or jpeg (I think gif would work better).
In any case, it took about a second to get the url into my phone's browser from the code on the screen (ok, it took the browser a moment to launch, but still - just one click).

Worked like a dream :) *MUCH* better than having to type in a URL into the browser.
Now, if only they would do this on all web pages that offer s/w for mobile phones. Hello widsets, are you listening?
Nokia Beta Labs just awarded me an award for this idea :

Re: qr-code please - Microsoft too!
Even Microsoft is getting in on this...

Hi Max,
thanks for your idea! I have passed this suggestion to the guys who are making the decisions, so let's see what they think of it.
Cheers,
Taina
