Navigation using numeric keypad
Navigation using numeric keypad
I am using Widsets quite a lot on my E70.
The E70 has the unfortunate feature that the joystick works just about when and how it wants to. This is a model specific problem AFAIK.
Currently Widsets allows me to navigate with numeric keypad most of the time. Numbers 2, 4, 6 and 8 move the cursor to respective directions and opening a widget can be done with number 5. However, in a widget opening e.g. a news item requires clicking the joystick and it is not possible to open the item with a numeric key. Browsing between the items is possible using keys 2 and 8.
Also exiting Widsets (in the latest version) requires clicking the joystick which requires usually dozens and dozens of attempts.
Would it be possible to add this secondary access method (=numeric key 5) for opening items? I would also appreciate if you could change the exit confirmation key to be something else than the joystick click.
Re: Navigation using numeric keypad
Hi vnahkuri,
good point, I will pass on the idea about 5 opening the item as well. About the Exit confirmation, that is very unlikely to be changed something else than the rocker. That's a requirement that needs to be there.
Cheers, Taina
Re: Navigation using numeric keypad
Thanks for the response.
The Exit confirmation does not need to be changed if another key could be used as a secondary confirmation. On my E70 at least the left soft key is unused in that case.
Actually I've noticed that it already works in some cases, e.g. marking all items read can be activated with the left key even though menu option is visible for the center key only.
Is there btw any difference in closing the Widsets "nicely" from Exit or "killing" the application through task menu (setting not being saved, corruption of data)? Namely the latter I can manage in few seconds while the former may take a lot longer depending on the rocker mood.
Re: Navigation using numeric keypad
There's no difference if you exit the application via Exit button, pressing the red (end) key, or task menu :) All goes.
