What do you want, WidSeteers? It's time to tell :)

Tana  2008/04/11 14:30 UTC

Hi WidSeteers,

WidSets is doing constant development work to improve the service. We have already received a bunch of ideas from you e.g. what kind of features or widgets there should be and so on. Some of those are on our roadmaps and you’ll be seeing those in action on your mobiles along the year :)

To make sure that we are steering the WidSets ship to the direction that would make you happy and proud to use WidSets, I would encourage you to more open and free discussion about what kind of service WidSets should be in the future. You are the active part of our community, and it could be great to hear for example, what kind of features there should be what comes to the whole WidSets community: how you would like to interact with each others, what to know about other members etc.

We are doing our best efforts to add features that you are wishing for without forgetting the easiness and fastness of the service. We’re also planning to get you more involved in the future e.g. by starting beta testing team and other things as we believe that by doing this thing to together makes this a better service for all of us.

We wouldn’t be here without you guys, so to make sure that we’ll have some happy WidSeteers in the future, too – go-ahead and write couple of rows and let us know what you think!

Many thanks!!

Taina.

First of all, thanks to Widsets for such a great application. However, Widsets is no longer my number 1 application, because of one reason - the inability to download all content option for offline viewing.

Many people have requested for this in the forum, and I think you already know about that. Reasons are that Wifi phones are getting more common, so some people will choose to download all content over a wifi. Also, many places have spotty networks, especially underground.

Overall, I think Widsets is a great application, just that the inability to download all content proves to be the deal breaker.

I agree, it would be great to be able to download everything at home, then read on the bus or any place that doesn't have wifi.

I agree with Waipengs great idea.

I'd also like to see a function added to the website that categorizes the bookmarks according to the feeds from which they're from.

As for the Widset client, could it be possible to add-in an option for the widgets to NOT automaticly update, not all feeds need to be updated everytime you start-up the Widset client.

Thnx for hearing me ;)

I agree with everyone, offline surfing would be great, however at the moment I do use it for this - its just doesnt download all the photos/not always the full article.

What I would like is a way for widsets to 'cache' the newly added bookmarks when not online - I find this is an issue as I usually read widsets on the tube on the way home and when I want to bookmark something I cant as I am offline. This would greatly improve my widsets experience (and shouldnt be too hard to do:0)

I do find widsets loads up terribly slowly - even on an N95 8GB - so speeding up of startup would be great.

Otherwise I love widsets, its a great app.

New version again, but no such features.

Any comments on whether this is feature is considered?

Hi Widseteers,

Thank you for this new world!
I am new and to my new eye:

1. Would be great to allow us to "fly around" Widset without having to close a widget now in use whenever, say, I hear an alert sound and want a quick check what's going on in another one. Or while this one is reloading I can look into another one. Something like "To dashboard - to previous" or "To Fresh Green plus" would be good.

2. No "Copy" option. Wikipedia is great and I'd really like to copy something from it or other widget context to the clipboard just like you'd do surfing a web page.

3. And yes, not all of them I'd like to refresh on start up just now. Say, I'm in a hurry at the moment and want some dedicated ones to open real fast. After all could it be so that an option of "Reload all" be implemented so I could refresh them all later on?

Regards,
Reeby

Hi Reeby,

thanks for your great ideas, these sound really reasonable ideas that would improve the usability of WidSets. I will pass the to our product developement guys.

Copy is something that I miss, too and the last idea would really speed up the start up.
