confirm exit now on middle button - why?
confirm exit now on middle button - why?
With the beta version, I could exit widsets by :
1) pressing the right soft key labeled 'exit'
2) pressing the left soft key labeled (iirc) 'yes'
Now I've upgraded to version 1.0 and step 2 has been moved to the middle.
This seems like a needless and annoying change. It also does not conform to the S60 UI, which have 'confirm' on the left softkey (as well as the middle).
Please consider duplicating the function on the left softkey.
Thanks.
Max.
"Middle button" is pressing the 'joystick'

Re: confirm exit now on middle button - why?
Hi Max,
the beta version had an exit under options. Now it has been added to right softkey because of some new requirements, which are not related to S60 UI. Note, that WidSets basically works in all mobile phones that support Java MIDP 2.0, alla manufacturers phones, so we are not following S60 guidelines necessarily.
I hope the usability is still in good level, though change is always a change and it takes some time to get use to it.

Yes, I can't say I much like Java, for this very reason - applications tend to not follow UI guidelines for the device they're running on and it's annoying to have things subtly different like this. Is there no way for your app to say 'oh, I'm on S60, I should put the 'yes' on the left soft key'? Change bothers me, but not so much as inconsistency since this is a change *every* time I use it, since it's different to every other app on my phone.
..but, yes, it's usable, since it's only exiting that's the issue.
PS. I'll be *ered if I can get the quoting working on this forum.
