Version .99 of widsets is broken!

zgold550  2007/04/25 16:53 UTC

Just installed the new widsets update .99 had a few issues and am currently stuck with an unworking version.

1) Auto update took me to a website where i downloaed a "new" client, not one linked to my account. Went back to get.widsets, logged in got a real one.

2) First time i loaded widsets i got bubbly blue background, nothing happening

3) Second time i loaded it, asked me to accept terms, did. Nothing

4) Third time, i select my network connection, then (infinitly) it alternates between "Connecting" and "Offline".

I'm on a nokia N95, now without a working version of widsets :(

It is not.

Keep the faith.

I am a very heavy widsets-user; now on a N95.

Everything is loading now.

Thank you Widsets for yet another improvement; much faster!

:-)

I'm still having the issue, even after re-installing. Any advice?

I had the same problem on my E70, but after letting it finish downloading (Letting the blue connection bar stop moving), I exited and let it do it again a couple of times. Its working now, after about five or six exit-opens. Its MUCH faster, and now the annoying popup that asks me if I want to connect doesn't show up anymore!

If that doesn't work, just uninstall it, re-install from get.widsets.com using your login and password, and then open, exit and re-open four or five times. Should work.

Take heart, ppl, just exit and open a few times, but just remember to let it finish downloading on the bubbly screen every time. Hope this helps.

On the N95 it took several "goes" to install completely,

but finally everything "fell" in to place.

I "reloaded" the error widgets, with seems to help.

I'm using over 40 widgets (practically since the beginning
of Widsets).

Good luck!

Best regards,

Nick.

P.S.: Tip: Have you seen www.n95users.com (I will make a widget
for that).

Dear Widsets people: Help!

Widsets is still no go: reinstalled numerous times, closed and reopened many times, also just tried letting it keep cycling - nothing changed anything. Tried installing the "personal" version and the default.

p.s.
Yes, i've been to n95users -- It used to be helpful, now its just trolls who don't search before asking questions and provide unsubstantiated information to others.

I have the same problem in my E61. Everything was working perfect since I installed 0.99. I can't connect ot Widsets server. Also, I tried to reload it again and I can't do it . A message "Impossible to install" appears everytime I try to reload it in both main memory or memory card.

Any help??

Regards

Brownicha

I'm using a Nokia N95 and have upgraded from 0.98 to 0.99.

No go with the version 0.99 as many here have stated.

How do I revert to 0.98 ?

Hi everyone.

The 0.99 version of WidSets has been tested to work with the both the Nokia N95 and the Nokia E61, so the problems you're seeing shouldn't be any phone specific issues. I would say that just try reinstalling the application once more. And if possible, please remove the earlier installation prior to giving the new installation a go.

If the application locks up in the beginning, the problem can also be that you simply have too many widgets. For example 40 widgets sound a bit like overkill as the client side Java record storage will get filled up with the cached content really easily.

To help the above situation, please try removing some of those active widgets and start the application by pressing number 5 button repeatedly during the startup process. This will print "Clearing WidSets..." text on device screen and load resources again from scratch. The application might suffer the occasional lock ups when too many widgets are used. Unfortunately due to the fact that we support such a various amount of mobile devices, better memory handling appears to be a task next to impossible. :)

Reverting back to the 0.98 version of the WidSets client isn't possible at the moment due to the fact that the new version isn't backwards compatible.

Cheers,
Antti
