1) "It works for me" is a wholly unacceptable response when your dealing with clients, for future reference.

2) As previously stated I've re-installed widgets everyway I can think of... removing from app panel first, overwriting with NEW account, overwriting with old account, both deleting and not deleting "previous data".

3) Tried the "press 5" thing, no luck.

4) It clearly is not an overload of widgets as it never stays connected for more than half a second -- not enough time to even get a list of widgets.

5) Perhaps its an issue for people who have upgraded? Theres definetly a problem here that will _NOT_ be solved with reinstalling -- as I've done that now far more times than necessary.

Perhaps it'll be worth a dev's time to actually look into this as it appears that since at least 3 people have had the same problem as I here, and for each person who complains about a problem like this theres many more who don't.

I only stated the "it works for me" to let people know that it does work.

I am no member of the support team, but I think they are pretty fantastic
when you consider that they offer a free service.

Maybe it functions better after the firmware-upgrade (11.0.0.27).

I now notice that widsets does not close any more when I open to
many applications, but waits till I close the apllications I no longer use.

Hi zgold550.

Please try changing your connection type in 'Options' -> 'Client' -> 'Settings' from HTTP to socket and/or vice versa to see if that helps any.

You might also want to check the client logs for any possible problem related log entries there. Accessing the log can be activated by changing it on at 'Options' -> 'Client' -> 'Settings' -> 'Developer-mode' -> 'On'. After this, the log will be visible at 'Options' -> 'Developer' -> 'Log'. Any connectivity related problems there might help us debug the issue further.

Similar offline/online loop happens if you're using the same WidSets account on multiple devices at the same time. So please make sure that you're not trying to be online with many devices at once.

Knowing which operator you're using and your location might also be helpful in troubleshooting, so could you please give us those details. Your phone software information might also help us in debugging this further. Typing *#0000# gives you that information on the device. The newest one that we have tested the 0.99 WidSets to work with is V 11.0.026 dated 17-04-07.

Cheers,
Antti

Antti,

Thanks for your follow up. I tried the socket change, no luck. I then went into developer mode and the log shows the following:

Open: java.lang.SecurityException: Permissison = javax.microedition.io.Connector.socket
Http: Starting .....
ONLINE
HTTP Error: java.io.IOException: Invalid Message Tag 3e
HTTP Stopped
OFFLINE
Execute: T/112531b28fa dabo/version
(Same but fb)
CONNECTING
(loop)

I'm running default firmware:
10.0.18
15-03-07
RM-159

I appreciate the help.
Thanks,
Zach

umm.. no firmware upgrade for the US yet. I know that it is out there but not for us..

.. and it isn't working for me. I have sent the Log file in another reply but it's the same message as the previous poster.

Hi again.

Some similar "Invalid message tag" error messages have related to traffic going through proxy servers in the past. It looks as if the proxy servers are changing the packet structure somehow when packets are relayed through them. If possible, please try to disable proxy server usage and test the application again.

This problem could also be caused by a bug in HTTP header handling on the platform side, but as I don't have an N95 with that particular US software version here to do more testing, I can't say this for sure. Atleast the software version that I have here is working with both Socket and HTTP connections, so the error seems more likely to be caused by the proxy server.

I did consult our serverside developers and they replied that the HTTP packet structure has not been changed in our latest build.

By the way, what sort of error message(s) are you seeing while using the socket mode. It might of course be that your service provider is simply blocking the usage of socket as means of connecting to the network on your mobile.

Cheers,
Antti

1) I get the same errors regardless of connection type.
Although, it does add an error "Open: java.lang.SecurityException: forced to use http"
which could explain the whole debacle. Something in .99 is forcing it to use http instead of socket... and perhaps http never worked in the first place.

2) I'm not using a proxy
3) It worked perfectly before upgrading to .99.

Hi.

Ok, one more suggestion.

1) Remove the application from your mobile.

2) Download the application again from with your mobile browser: http://www.widsets.com/widsets.jad

The change that was done to the 0.99 version is that we have made the Nokia specific application download to point to the signed version of the client. This should not produce any connectivity related problems, but evidently your experiences are proving us wrong.

Atleast devices such as the Cingular branded Nokia E62 and all the Nokia devices that we have here to test with us have worked well with this new signed client. We have also found out that by using the signed client on the Nokia devices, similar problems as the SecurityException you had while using socket have disappeared. Unfortunately we have not had resources to conduct more comprehensive world wide tests to check each and every combination.

The downside here is that the application available from the above link functions like the normal anonymous WidSets client and doesn't relate your user specific account. If this turns out to be a working combination, please let us know, so that we can start to think of some additional download / installation methods for people suffering from similar problems.

Best Regards,
Antti

OK We're in business. Using that download link I now am out of that online/offline loop. I'm simply going to make a new account and use the widgets i used to have. An annoying solution, but a solution nonetheless.

Thanks!

Just installed the newest firmware (11.0.26) and had to re-install widsets. I am once again experiencing online/offline loops, and i'de rather not redo my entire widsets library again. Has any proper solution been found?
