can't install Widsets - certificate expired
Just tried to grab widsets from get.widsets.com. For my E61i, it says that it's sending me the E65 version and when I install it, I get an error "Certificate expired. Contact application vendor."
Anyone else see this?
Re:can't install Widsets - certificate expired
Hi weisen,
first thing is to check the your mobile device has the correct date and time? You might get this kind of error if the date of the certificate and your mobile phone does not match.
If that is ok, then one option could be to download the unsigned version of WidSets, which you can find from this tread:https://www.widsets.com/forum/posts/list/2840.page
Let me know how it is going.
Cheers,
Taina
Re:can't install Widsets - certificate expired
Sadly, no dice.
I don't see where in the post that you reference there is discussion of an unsigned version. I followed the advice there, however, and downloaded the .jar to my Mac and bluetooth'd it to the phone, but upon installation I got the same error: "Certificate error. Contact application vendor."
Any advice would be appreciated! I do miss my widsets.
Re:can't install Widsets - certificate expired
Ah, okay, some more information. Apparently the error "Certificate Error. Contact application supplier." means that the .jar was unsigned and the E61i will not install unsigned apps, regardless of the application settings.
Now, if I try to download from the phone via get.widsets.com, depending on which browser I use it improperly detects the phone as either an 6630 or a E65 or an E90.
So I went to my profile and tried the whole reload/SMS thing. That *did* provide a URL and going to that URL did detect the phone as an E61 (not an "i", but close enough).
If I click on the download link, the phone says "Invalid Jar File"
While all of this auto-detection stuff really is lovely, is it possible for me to just go to a page where I can choose which phone I have (trust me, I do know the model #) and then download the app from there?
Re:can't install Widsets - certificate expired
Hi,
Please try again to download widsets, as I have updated our version database to hold the 61i.
Cheers,
Daniel.
Re:can't install Widsets - certificate expired
Hi,
Also, you could try to download the anonymous client, but if your phone won't accept unsigned software, I do not think that will work.
If you can get the jad and the jar onto your phone, you may be able to allow unsigned software to install by changing some settings on your phone (once installed, you can change the settings back and it will still work).
Cheers,
Daniel.
Re:can't install Widsets - certificate expired
Thanks, Daniel. The phone is correctly recognized now however the result from downloading the .jad file is "Invalid Jar File" upon installation.
Can I have the direct URL that I can use on a desktop PC to download the .jad or .jar for this phone or can you send it to me via e-mail?
I can't see any other way to debug the problem.
Thanks for your help!
Neil
p.s. -- given that no one else seems to be having the same issues, I'm guessing it's particular to me.
Solved
Problem solved. It seems as if S60 has some problems with java apps which are installed on a card which is then removed. Since the card is removed, the app no longer shows up in the App Manager and can't be uninstalled. But it can't be reinstalled either.
In the end I forced my desktop PC's user-agent string to look like my phone, downloaded the .jad, then grabbed the .jar and bluetooth'd it to the phone.
After one install/uninstall cycle that way, I could then install normally from SMS link, etc.
This was my own mess, ultimately, however it would have saved me a lot of grief to just be able to download the signed .jar file for my phone directly from the web site. A special fall-back page with a drop-down for choosing phone, etc. would be appreciated.
Regards and thanks for all of the suggestions,
Neil
