Widsets not starting - dead Widsets icon
Widsets not starting - dead Widsets icon
I faced a nice problem with Widsets application. I installed it to my new e61i handset's memory (phone memory) and tried it out. Worked fine.
Then I created a new folder called "Internet" on the "desktop" of the handset and moved the icon into that directory.
Next day I tried to lauch the application, but it didn't start. No error though. Then i tried to remove it, and got an error "Unable to delete Widsets".
After that I reinstalled the Widsets and as the result I got two icons (as I had moved the original icon back to "Installat." from "internet" folder. The other one started the Widgets nicely but the otherone doesn't do anything.
So the problem now is that i have a dead "Widsets" icon on the phone's memory and I can't rid of it.
Funny thing is that one collegue of mine, had almost the same problem earlier but in his case the Widsets was installed on memory card which caused the memory card to corrupt (then he just had to buy a new card). But in my case, I wouldn't like to buy a new handset due this. I would just want to get rid of the dead icon.

Hi jjahonen,
yes, this is the same problem that was discussed at the Forum some time ago. I will check if there is a workaround how to get rid of the dead icon as we cannot help the situation that this happens in certain cases.
And apologies for the late reply :)

UPDATE:
To get rid of the dead icon, all I can advice so far is to update the firmware or restore the factory settings, though this is not something that you might want to do. I hope the dead icon does not disturb you too much as you have a working one anyway, and the WidSets works nicely.

I guess there is no easier workaround for this prob. I hate dead icons. I got the same problem with my N95.
Does anyone have the older version? What I gather is that if we reinstall the older version without updating and then uninstall it, the dead icon will disappear.
Any links for the beta version?

I have also the same problem with dead Widsets icon. However, there might be some hope left. I found a discussion forum concerning similar problems with dead java game icons.

It takes me about a week to start solving this problem but you might want to give it a try. It seems that the only way to manage java program icons is via card reader or USB-cable/mass storage mode.
