WidSets and BlackBerry compatibility?
Hi there,
there's been many posts about WidSets mainly not working in BlackBerry devices. We know that model 8700 is working ok and 8100 is working if the latest firmware is updated.
I would encourage all BlackBerry users who end up to this page and have some experience with WidSets to write comments to this thread.
If you have tried out WidSets, tell us what is the model and the firmware version. Does WidSets work or not? This info could help the other members and us as well.
On BlackBerry devices, Q stands for the left softkey and P for the right softkey. For example, when you first start using WidSets, press Q to accept the Terms of Service. Later on, pressing Q will open Options. Use P to toggle between widgets with the latest updates
Thanks for your co-operation!

Re: WidSets and BlackBerry compatibility?
Hi there. I just signed up to this site last night. I have a blackberry pearl 8130. It doesn't seem to work on mine. When I get to install it, it gets almost fully installed and then stops and says "Download Failed" and the reason says this "Invalid Jar Error: control flow verification information to large". I hope they fix this. I would really like to try out this app. for my phone. Take care and good luck!!

Hi,
does these keys work ok? On BlackBerry devices, Q stands for the left softkey and P for the right softkey.
You could run the keytester test to get the right values, so that we can fix the keymapping issue:

Thanks!
Re: WidSets and BlackBerry compatibility?
yup it fails on my blackberry 8130, the file is 2 large and the download fails.
Re: WidSets and BlackBerry compatibility?
on the BB 8830 world to. same message
Re: WidSets and BlackBerry compatibility?
8820 - letter "P" works as the right key, and letter "Q" works as the left key. The tracball, if pressed in the main menu, comes up with "remove widget from dashboad", and has otherwise no impact if pressed or selection. The selection of item is possible once item is highlighted) by pressing the "Enter" (twisted arrow) key, but - AND THIS IS THE BIGGEST ISSUE! - there is no kay mapped to the middle choice (when sch comes, as a selection option) on the lower menu of widsets, no matter the screen.
Now - for the needed data using your prgram:
tracball: keycode -8, game act 8
enter: 10, 0
p: 112, 12
q: 113,
Let me know if you would like me to test other keys.
Oh - one more thing - while having had the widsets intalled on the nokia e61i micro sd card, and never having had memory problems, there is no such option under blackberry (i.e. using the memory card in support of applications) so with some graphic intensive widsets (e.g. boingboing) I am now getting out o memory errors, being asked to clear cache - bu the cache is assocatied with a "middle option" choice ("yes"), which ha not key asssociated under bb 8820 - see above :(
thanks!

Re: WidSets and BlackBerry compatibility?
I just tried it on my BlackBerry Pearl 8130. It downloads okay, but then the installation fails.
It was a huge letdown...
I was really looking forward to this.
It really angers me because, I mean, if it works on all of these shitty phones so perfectly then why doesn't it work on my SMARTPHONE?
Re: WidSets and BlackBerry compatibility?
Was all the 8820 info of any use? The biggest drawback of this BB model is that there is no way to use the middle option, so - if for some widgets there are workarounds, for some the middle option is a core functional requirement. Could the original poster (as implied her posting) attempt a modification of the trackball to allow "click" on the middle option, based on the code I provided? Is there anything (some hidden conf local to the phone) I could attempt?
Thank you!
P
