Can not get past "Terms of Service."

infectedproject  2008/05/12 02:05 UTC

I can't get passed the TOS! The key-map seems to be messed up for my phones. I own a Motorola i855 and a i425.

Here is the key codes to fix these phones (and probably all Motorola phones, since they all seem to use the same keypad layout).

Left soft key: -20
Right soft key: -21
Joystick/arrow up: -10
Joystick/arrow right: -12
Joystick/arrow down: -11
Joystick/arrow left: -13
Fire/middle: -23
Menu: -22
Accept Call: -14
Number 0: 48
Number 1: 49
Number 2: 50
Number 3: 51
Number 4: 52
Number 5: 53
Number 6: 54
Number 7: 55
Number 8: 56
Number 9: 57
Star: 42
Hash: 35

I'd really like to use this, if you guys can fix it.

Thanks!

Hi there.

I added these keymappings to the service. Please try installing the application again for better experience.

Cheers,
Antti

I am actually installing the app from my PC, so I'm unsure if it's picking up my phone's key map.

Could I just download the JAD and JAR directly to my PC? Then I could transfer them to my phone via the data cable.

Thanks again!

Reloading the application will make the changes visible to your device.

You can get the installation files from browsing to this site with your PC http://widsets.mobi. Login with your username and save the files.

Easy way is to browse with the mobile browser to the same mobi site and download the client directly into your mobile.

Let us know if the key mappings work now.

Ok, I was able to browse on my computer to get the .jad file on my browser again. Saved it where I can find it again.

Now, I'm going to look around for ways to get the .jad file into my phone. I tried browsing directly on my phone's web browser to widsets.mobi, but got a "No gateway reply" message on the phone.

Hi donnellis,

if you're having same kind of problem that infectedproject is having with Motorola, he's how to proceed:

as you have the .jad file now on your computer, open it and look this line from the file text: MIDlet-Jar-URL:

Go to the url with your PC browser, and you get the needed .jar file as well. Save that to your computer.

Now you have two files. jad and jar. Transfer those to your mobile device via e.g. Bluetooth, data cable, memory card - that depends on what's possible in your case.

After you have managed to get the files to your phone's memory, open the .jar file and the WidSets installation should start.

Or you can try again the widsets.mobi link with your mobile browser to install WidSets through that way.

Ok, I transferred the Jar file to the phone with BlueTooth. Browsed to it, got option to "Open" it. Clicked the button and...

Application access set to not allowed

Phone is a Nokia 6086 with T-Mobile service.

After I clicked on "Ok" to the "not allowed" message, I get a "Connection failed" - To use WidSets, you must be connected to the internet. Prepare to retry going online, select Yes when asked...

[Bottom of message]:
Exact error message:
java.lang.SecurityException: Permission Denied

Further info from the error message: it says to not connect via a WAP access point. I turned off WiFi on my Nokia 6086 and went direct through the tower. No difference. Also, when I tried to connect to widsets.mobi, I get "No gateway reply".

I've already tried these exact steps. No luck here.

I have had luck creating my own .Jad file though, the app ran all the way up until you had to accept the EULA. The key map was still messed up (where I could only scroll up and down, but nothing else).
