Problem with login

ZeroCode  2008/02/24 02:17 UTC

Hi there,

I have problems logging in to the system, when I first click on "developers" and then type in my user-name and password. I get an error message, saying that the user-name and password do not match. I also tried to use "forgot my password", but the system displays another error telling that my email and user name do not match.
I do not have any problem when I log-in through the main page: www.widsets.com.
I did not find any "contact" page on widsets.com to report this problem directly to the developers. It may be a good idea to create such a page.
Thank you in advance,
N.

Hi,

have you registered to the developers site ealier? The same username and password does not work on the developers site unless you have also registered there. They are separate accounts.

Let me know if you have an account for that site as well and you still have a problem.

I will forward your feedback about the missing contact information.

Taina

Hi Taina,

I don't remember if I registered on developers site before. We assume I didn't, so I went and tried to register on the site. There are two options to choose from: 1. Yes, I've got an account 2. I'm using WidSets on my phone, but haven't registered yet.
If I choose the second option, it asks me to enter my "temp" username and password, while I don't have any. I tried to use my own username and password, but I got an error telling that they don't match. So there isn't anyway to register a new account for me, and I can't use my widsets account to login to dev site.
Thank you.

Hi,

there's also these options: "Download and Register" which is the green button on homepage. Or if you choose "Get started" it guides you to the registration process and the client download.

The page that you were checking out doesn't really help visitors, who would like to get teh client, that's very much true.

The registration process on both of our sites it not so obvious and we are trying to make some improvements to that in the near future. There just seems to be too many options available.

I hope this helps you to register to dev. site and get that client installed.

Oh, I see. The dev client supposed to be different than widsets client, and I think there is no reason for that. They are both same.
It seems that the new widsets caused some problems:
1- Old widsets website: did not have this dev problem. You could also upload your creation without the need to use a new login. It did not even required to install a new client.
2- New widsets website (not dev site): does not allow users to customize their widgets as they could on the old widsets. There were lot more a publisher could do without using SDK. For example, they could choose the alarms, what a user could see under settings etc.

There are also some glitches with the widsets client: For example. I really don't understand why developers decided to change the place of standard buttons. Everyone is used to click on the left option key to accept an action and right option key to decline an action. After widsets update to version 1.x, they removed the left action key and moved it to the center key. Of course the center key is also accept key, but they could at least leave the old left key in place. Since then, I automatically press the left key once to for example exit the app, and then the center key. Just annoying.

Hope to see some improvement in near future.
Regards,
Nicholas

Hi Nicolas,

I believe that from the day one, there's always been two sites: www.widsets.com (the main site) and developer.widsets.com that is only targeted to those members who like to develope new widgets with the SDK. Let's see if we are able to combine these two sites together in the future.

About the www.widsets.com. You are still able to create widgets on the website with the template and then use those in private or publish to the library. Or if you want to edit them, that's also possible. You just need to create a new copy of it, edit and re-publish. This is done on My Profile page: Edit widgets or My published widgets. Editing here means that you'd change the icon, feed, colors etc.

There were changes with the softkeys, which was a part of a bigger picture. I hope you'll get use to it as times goes by, at least that's what happened to me.

Thanks for your comments!
