2006/09/22 12:49 UTCIf you want to get full content from Gmail, here are the quick steps.
Sign in to your Gmail
Settings - Forwarding and POP
Enable POP only for mail that arrives from now on
When messages are accessed with POP keep Gmail's copy in the Inbox
Save changes
In the WidSet Manager, go to Email Feed Options
Mail server type: POP3
Connection type: Secure SSL
Mail server name: pop.gmail.com
Username: your gmail username without "@gmail.com"
Password: your gmail password
In the mobile widget settings, select the audio alert!
Have fun!

How often does this widget check for new mail? Can this setting be modified? If it can be modified, how?

The e-mail widget uses the same optimized polling technique as our other feed syndication based widgets. Timewise the system optimizes the content fetching between 3 minutes and 3 hours. It adapts quickly to changes and the period is biased on the mean time between the newest items. An extra poll to the fetcher takes place every time the user starts up the application or goes offline and back online.
But to really answer your question, there is currently no way to set this time manually from the widget and it's something we're working on improving.

i would like to fetch new mail on my device but read them anyway on my personal computer (via pop3) later again to store them.
maybe this is a proposal for developpers.

Why doesn't it work for Yahoo Mail?
I've got it working for most of my email accounts apart from Yahoo. The built in email client on my phone can logon and fetch my Yahoo mails okay, so is the widget unable to handle yahoo mail for some reason?

I am glad the email feed widget has been so popular.
Users have asked for full Unicode character support,
possibility to reply to messages, delete messages from server,
easier settings, etc.
Now we do have those features in the new Email widget!
Log in - Go to library - Search for Email - and pick it.
The easy-to-use email setup wizard will start.
