It's simple! Just pick the widget from the library and share it to your friends.

Hello Voytech,

when you have picked the widget to your dashboard, open the widget and give the name to the chat channel. This name will also appear to the widget icon.

When the chat widget is active on dashboard, choose options -> widget -> send -> choose the contact from your phonebook or tap your friends mobile number. After you friend has picked up that chat widget, you are ready to start chatting. When the widget is open, you can see from the options who is online.

Happy chatting!

Taina

My friend and I have tried to set it up and tried different channel names, but for some reason we can't even see each other on the users online section. What is the problem? Why can't we seem to get it right?

and the 'take picture' feature does not seem to work, either. It always says: ''image capture failed'' or something like that. Any help, please?

Hi LuisFercol,

have you tried again to share a private chat with your friend? The widget message comes correctly to the Inbox?

The service seems to be quite slow sometimes, so it's good to try later again. Or it could be that your phone is getting very slow if you have to many widgets on the dashboard. You could try to get rid of some of those.

The picture taking should work ok, but there seems to be some phone models and even sw certain versions where the camera feature does not work.

I hope you get it up and running as it is a really cool widget!

I am conducting/participating in a research project conducted in Vancouver, Canada in partnership with Nokia. We have 8 N95s running Private Chat, amongst other things.

Is there any remote chance we could get dumps of the chat contents from you guys? Shouldn't be too hard on server-side.

And if there would be some way to encode GPS data with the pictures that get uploaded into Private Chat... That would make my month!!!

We have a big issue with sharing this widget. First of all, I can't find an option to share it with a specific user based on a username - only a phone number. The SMS way often doesn't work - maybe it has to do with people having several accounts with the same phone number?

Secondly, SMS invites are limited per person which makes it difficult to invite larger groups.

Otherwise, great widget - pictures and text go well together!

Does this app have an online interface? It would be awesome if those without a fancypants phone could use their computer to see the chat session.
