Mother Jones offers readers probing public interest journalism and thought-provoking analysis of contemporary politics and social issues.
Mother Jones magazine was founded in 1976. In the past nine years its readership has grown from 135,000 to more than 230,000.
Mother Jones has won four National Magazine Awards and been nominated for twelve. In 2001 the magazine received an NMA for General Excellence in its circulation category. In 2007 the magazine was a finalist for NMAs in General Excellence and for Interactive Feature.
In November of 1993, Mother Jones became the first general interest magazine in the country to offer its content online. Motherjones.com has won two Webby awards for online political coverage. In addition to reported, web-only news stories, the site is host to three blogs: MoJoBlog (on news and politics), The Blue Marble (on environment and health), and The Riff (on media and culture).
Mother Jones and motherjones.com are published by the Foundation for National Progress, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in San Francisco.
